Bitter guard/Pavakka Stir Fry


            This is an easy stir fry recipe. This popular dish with this healthy vegetable  is usually eaten with steamed rice.

Ingredients and Measurements Needed

  • 1 or 2  nos- Bitter Guard
  • 1 no- Onion
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder or crushed chili
  • 2 tsp oil
  • salt required

Method


  1. Cut the bitter guard into small pieces .Usually we do not take the inside part of this vegetable.So before cutting remove the inside white parts and seeds.
  2. Chop onions into small pieces
  3. Now mix bitter guard,onions,turmeric powder and salt  and keep it aside for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Now heat a pan and add oil into it.
  5. When the oil is hot add bitter guard mix and give it a stir.
  6. Then cover the pan and cook it for 10-15 minutes until it's done.
  7. Keep mixing the fry in regular intervals in these 10-15 minutes.
  8. Switch off the flame and transfer it into a serving plate.
  9. Serve fry with steamed rice.
