Semiya/Vermiceli Upma
Upma is a traditional south Indian breakfast dish.Usually it's made with Rava/Semolina. But we can make upma with Vermceli as well.It is a very easy and tasty recipe.
Ingredients and Measurements
- 2 cup Semiya/Vermiceli
- 5 or 8 nos - Beans
- 1 no- Carrot
- Some Curry Leaves
- 1no-Onion
- 2 cups lukewarm water
- 1/2 inch- Ginger
- 2 nos-Green chilies(Optional)
- 3 tsp-oil(Any Oil)
- Salt as required
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad daal
- 1 or 2 dried red chilli
- some cashew nuts(optional)
- Cut beans,carrots,onion and ginger into small pieces.
- Now take a pan and roast the vermiceli with some oil for 1 minute and keep it aside.
- Now heat a wok or pan and add 1 tsp oil into it .
- Splutter the mustard seeds and add urad daal and dried red chili into it and saute well .
- Add curry leaves,onion and ginger into it and saute until onion is done.
- After that add the cut vegetables(Beans and carrot)into it and mix well.Also add cashew nuts and some salt.Saute it until the vegetables are done.
- After that add 2 cups of lukewarm water and let it boil.
- Now add the roasted vermicelli and mix well .Wait until the water starts to evaporate.
- Then cover it and cook for about 2 minutes.
- Yummy and tasty vermiceli/semiya upma is ready to serve!.
