This is a very popular south Indian evening snack. It is a simple and easy to make snack.This is a great accompaniment to tea!
Ingredients & Measurements Used
Method- 1/2 cup Peas daal
- 1/4 cup Chana daal
- 1 onion /9-10 small onion
- 3 green chllies
- 1/2 inch ginger
- 1 strand curry leaf
- 7-8 Dried Red chllies
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
- salt
- Coconut oil (for frying)
- Soak the Peas daal and Chana daal together for at least 2 hours.
- After that drained it well and keep it aside.
- Crush the onion,green chilies,ginger ,curry leaves and red chilies in a food processor.
- Keep the mixture in a bowl.
- Now grind the soaked and drained daal in a blender or food processor into a coarse paste.Try not to add any water .
- Mix the daal paste with the crushed spices.
- Now add the asafoetida powder and salt into the paste and mix well.
- Mixture for vadas are ready.
- Prepare an aluminium foil or baking paper sheet to keep the vadas before frying.
- Now wet your hand with some water and take a small lemon size daal mixture and make a ball ,and put it in the middle of the palm and gently press with the other palm.
- Then gently transfer the vada from the palm to an aluminum foil or baking paper.
- Repeat this for all daal mixture.
- Now heat a pan with some oil.
- When the oil becomes hot,gently transfer the vadas with a spatula to the pan and fry until it becomes golden brown in color.
- Try to keep the heat slow while frying.
- Yummy and Spicy Parippu vadas are ready!
